Barry is in demand as a Certified Church Consultant (Church Central) to churches, coach to pastors and workshop presenter. He has four earned degrees an A.A., BA,, Th.M. and D.Min. with emphasis in leadership and has received valuable training and mentoring from consultants such as Thom Rainer, Tom Bandy, Dan Reiland, (who served as long time associate to John Maxwell of INJOY) and most recently Paul Borden..
In 2010, Barry will complete the United Methodist ACOS (Advanced Course of Study) where he has attended at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri, and Eden Theological Seminary of St. Louis, Missouri.
Barry is the author of two books: Leading With Ministry Intelligence (2004) and Finding the Missional Path (2007). Both books are available now in bookstores, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com. He is passionate about aiding small and mid-size congregations in moving from their current levels of ministry and to higher and more effective ones that produce disciples.
Barry and his wife Carmen of 30 years live in Jackson, Missouri. They have one daughter and two grandsons.
Ministry Experience:
With 39 years of experience as a senior pastor,
interim pastor and staff member of developing assimilation
strategies, Barry is Lead Pastor for Wesley United Methodist Church
in Fruitland, a rural congregation located near Jackson, Missouri,
within the Southeast District.
Although this is his first Methodist appointment, already
the church is experiencing significant numerical and spiritual
growth. His goals include leading this church from inward
to outward focus; from maintenance to missional; from dysfunctional
to healthy.
Barry also serves as a Leadership Consultant and Coach for
the Missouri Conference of United Methodists and has played a
contributing role in the HCI Healthy Church Initiative and the SCI
Small Church Initiative among Missouri United Methodists.
As a former Baptist, he has pastored churches in Kentucky,
Indiana, and Illinois, and Missouri. As a senior pastor
in Illinois of one church for 12 years, he led this rural
congregation from an attendance of 130 to 600.

Barry is widely known for his ability to teach and coach leaders to the next level. He has unique experience is developing assimilation strategies for churches who wish to close the back door. He has replicated his assimilation and connection strategies in traditional churches who are stuck.
